It is the entry point to Stihl's BG handheld blower range, suited for driveways, patios, and residential lots. The BG 55 runs a Zama carburetor and shares engine architecture with the FS 38/40/45 trimmer family. Common failure modes are fuel line cracking from ethanol exposure and primer bulb deterioration — detectable by fuel leaks or failure to prime.
